Don’t Drown In Your Sin

1Ti 6:9  But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which DROWN men in destruction and perdition.

The verse mentions temptations, and foolish and hurtful lusts. These things will lead you to the snare of the devil. Which can put you in a position where you drown. He has lost people in a snare and if they don’t come to Jesus Christ they are going to drown in destruction and perdition. He can do these things to the flesh of a Christian. Notice that word destruction. If you give into temptations and lusts than you will be “turned over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh.”  Satan wants to pull you under the water and cause everything you have to sink. Just like he will literally try to drown israel in the time of Jacobs trouble.

Rev 12:15  And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood.

Rev 12:16  And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.

They would drown if they don’t get help from God just like You will drown in your own sin. Unclean spirits in your life will cause you to drown. In Mark 9:20-22 it describes a devil possessed young man. The unclean spirit many times, cast him INTO THE FIRE and INTO THE WATER. The forces of darkness will drown you in darkness.

Many people are up to their neck in pornography or alcohol or drugs. They are struggling to keep their head above water.

The best thing to do if your about to drown in sin is to call on God.

Psa 69:1  To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David. Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.

Psa 69:2  I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.

Psa 69:3  I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God.

Psa 69:4  They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.

Psa 69:5  O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.

Your sins aren’t hidden from God and they will drown you if you stay in them. Don’t talk to anyone else about your sin…talk to God and get it fixed.

The same way God saved you when you were born again…is the same way he can also save you from your sin. If he can save your soul, than he can get you victory over sin.

2Sa 22:17  He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters;

Many are doubtful that God can give them victory over sin but He can save you from drowning just like he did Peter.

Mat 14:29  And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.

Mat 14:30  But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

Mat 14:31  And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

The lost world loves the pleasure of sin that only last for a season. They will swim in this sin for awhile and begin to sink. Especially when God pours out his wrath on his enemies.

Psa 69:24  Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.

A born again believer won’t feel the wrath of God. He will chasten his children but we aren’t appointed to wrath. The lost however..will feel his wrath and one day they will either SINK or SWIM.

Although you are saved you may be sinking in your sin. You need to SWIM, in the sense that you NEED TO FEEL SORROW OVER YOUR SIN AND CRY UNTO GOD.

Psa 6:6  I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.

Even during the creation the Bible says “the spirit of God moved upon the face of the WATERS.”  When you call on God the HOLY SPIRIT of God can fill you up and give you victory over sin.

God warns you about sin in the Bible and he warns you about the consequences of sin. God warned Noah about the coming flood of water. He let him know what would be the consequences of not ESCAPING THE WATER. the Bible says Noah was “saved by water”, meaning the waters never touched him! Noah built an ark to escape the water. Just like we need to heed to what God says about sin and flee temptation because God has also given us a WAY TO ESCAPE.

A lost person who “drowns in their sin”, never coming to Jesus Christ for salvation, will “die in their sins.” They will feel the wrath of God on their never dying soul. Men alive at the advent will see Jesus Christ as he comes back in anger. The Bible describes his breathe as a “overflowing stream.”

Isa 30:27  Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire:

Isa 30:28  And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.

Those who die in their SINS will drown in their sins as they sink into a lake of fire.

Rev 20:15  And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

In the lake of fire, it is literal fire. This is where you get the saying “your in HOT water.” The pain will be unbearable. The smoke of your torment will ascend up forever and ever. It is everlasting fire. Imagine calling for help under water. You can’t hardly talk under water. Imagine calling for help in a lake of fire. You can, but no one will hear you and no one can help you. The only ones who will hear you are the other ones who are crying out to God. You drown in your SIN. You drown in your separation. Hell is the place where Gods anger is kindled. But it is separation from his love his mercy.

Remember there are only two options. You can sink or SWIM. If your lost, You have to choose between rejecting Jesus Christ and believing on Jesus Christ. The Christian has to choose between living for Jesus Christ or living for the flesh.

The Christian is going to end up SWIMMING IN ETERNITY, regardless of how he lived his life. However when you make it to eternity you will come out with more rewards if you SWAM for God while you were here.

And when I say every Christian is going to “end up swimming” I mean that literally. There is going to be a rapture which takes place and all born again Christians are going to be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye. We are going to meet the LORD in the air and go through the 2nd heaven faster than the speed of light and then straight through a body of water above the solar system. This is the “deeps.” There is water up there.

Psa 148:4  Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that be above the heavens.

This is the sea of glass referred to in Revelation 4 and 15.

The Christian is going to make it out OK when it comes to his eternal destination but he can get himself in a mess in the flesh…while he is still here.

The lost person can get himself in a mess here because the way of the transgressive is hard , and if he rejects Jesus Christ and dies in his sin , than he is in a mess for eternity.
