Cain – Type Of Antichrist
This is going to hopefully start a weekly study I want to do that will “fight the famine”.
Amo 8:11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
I want you to be able to have a place to go and get a full meal. A complete buffet. I want to lay out the table and you can come sop it up.
I’m going to do a series of studies, LORD willing, on “bible villains”. To show you who the true hero is, you need a villain.
At the same time I want to give you a balanced meal. I’m going to look at Genesis chapter 4 for our first villain…CAIN and go over the three applications for his story.
Historical – Everything in the bible literally took place in history.
Many men reject the historical account of the Bible. They think it is silly or too far fetched.
A guy said to me one time that “don’t you think the stories are a bit IMBELISHED?!”
A guy said one time that “we don’t know which parts are completely accurate because it got tainted through so many years of copying”
Many men like Bill O Reilly think it is a book that teaches good morals but the stories are just fantasy.
You don’t want to deny the historical application.
When you do it messes with your hope…
Rom 15:4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
If it is just fantasy than it is no different than watching an inspirational movie.
If it is all fantasy than how can the scriptures give hope in a life that isn’t fantasy.
Practical – A lot of people will neglect the practical aspect. This application makes it relatable. It is what helps your walk.
It is what helps you RELATE to the scriptures. A lot of men focus simply on the historical or the doctrinal.
If you neglect this application than It would be like reading history books at school. It is history but you aren’t really applying it to yourself practically.
The Bible isn’t just a history book. It is also a practical book.
Doctrinal /Prophetical– This is the most neglected and is what makes the Bible come alive.
Such as the TYPES! When you examine the types you are looking at the Bible from a doctrinal aspect.
HISTORICAL – Cain brings the fruit of the ground as an offering to the LORD, Abel brings a bloody animal sacrifice. Cain kills Abel out of envy.
PRACTICAL – Murder comes from the heart. If you hate your brother that is the first step to the action
1Jn 3:15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer:
Also we see things like God is no respector of persons. Each and everyone of us has an equal opportunity.
Gen 4:6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
Now the DOCTRINAL/PROPHETICAL
Cain is a type of the antichrist and this story pictures the killing of the saints in the tribulation.
Now here are the similarities between Cain and the antichrist.
MISTAKEN AS “A MAN FROM THE LORD”
Eve thought Cain was the “promised one”.
Gen 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD.
The world will believe the antichrist is the one who will solve all the worlds problems.
Rev 13:3 And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
Rev 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
The only one who can solve your problems is JESUS CHRIST. He fixed your soul at salvation, he’ll fix your body at the rapture, and he’ll fix the world at the second coming.
There isn’t a man alive or yet to be born that can fix anything.
Religious PRETENDER
Cain is a picture of a religious poser. He wanted to offer the sacrifice of his choice. He wanted to do it HIS WAY.
He was religious but he wasn’t right with the LORD. Just as the antichrist will be religious pretender but it is for outward appearance.
You’ll see in Revelation 17 that he is associated with mystery Babylon the Roman Catholic Church.
Rev 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
Cain brought of the “fruit of the ground”. He brought a sacrifice before Abel because he is more religious but Abel’s heart was RIGHT!
Gen 4:3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD.
This pictures a man trying to appease God by their own FRUITS!
Gen 4:4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:
Gen 4:5 But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.
Religious people get mean when confronted about their false doctrine. Just attempt to correct any church of CHRIST member about their false baptismal regeneration.
Gen 4:6 And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
He is a religious poser who can’t stand correction because he is “SELF RIGHTEOUS”.
Rule Over Sin
Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.
Cain had freewill. He could do well and be accepted. He had the opportunity to bring a bloody animal sacrifice just like Abel did.
He doesn’t so the LORD causes him to “rule over sin”.
A worse fate than sin ruling over you. The power to do any sin you please is much worse.
For example, the rich and famous.
1Ti 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
A man can have so much power that not only does sin control him but he “rules over sin”. He has the power to commit any sin he wants to and do it in any excess he wants to.
He will have all the money, all the drugs, all the women. The antichrist will “rule over sin”.
He will be king over a “kingdom of darkness”. He will have any sin at his finger tips. He rightfully has the name, “man of sin”.
2Th 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
MURDERER
Gen 4:8 And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
Cain murdered his brother with ease. This pictures the religious crowd killing the Bible believing crowd. This pictures the antichrist murdering the true saints during the tribulation time period.
Rev 13:7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.
Cain is a “murderer” who is led by “that wicked one” and the antichrist is a “murderer” who gets his power from the dragon, that old serpent himself.
Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
Cain was…
OF THAT WICKED ONE
1Jn 3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
This is significant. Do you know what it calls the antichrist is 2 Thessalonians 2:8? That WICKED! He’s that wicked and his name is That WICKED!
2Th 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
2Th 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
LIAR
Gen 4:9 And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?
- Note the way he talks to God…
Rev 13:6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.
Gen 4:10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother’s blood crieth unto me from the ground.
The antichrist victims will also cry out
Rev 6:9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
Rev 6:10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
Both CAIN AND THE ANTICHRIST ARE DECEIVERS…
2Th 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Th 2:11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
PUNISHED GREATER THAN HE CAN BEAR
Gen 4:12 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.
Gen 4:13 And Cain said unto the LORD, My punishment is greater than I can bear
Rev 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Associated with A MARK
Gen 4:15 And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.
Rev 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Rom 9:22 What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:
You need a villain so that the real hero can be seen.
Gen 4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.
Counterfeit
Something about the antichrist is that he is a counterfeit of JESUS CHRIST. He wants to be worshipped, he will claim to be God, he has a white horse, he dies and resurrects.
Something you’ll notice about Cain is that the men from his line have similar names to the men in the promised seed’s line.
Look at this…
Gen 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
Now pay attention, that isn’t the same Enoch as chapter 5. That isn’t the Enoch who “walked with God”. So obviously the devil is trying to make his line look like the line of the promised seed.
Gen 4:18 And unto Enoch was born Irad: and Irad begat Mehujael: and Mehujael begat Methusael: and Methusael begat Lamech.
Methusael, That’s like “Methuselah”. And Noah’s father is named “Lamech” but these are not the same men.
Gen 4:19 And Lamech took unto him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
Gen 4:20 And Adah bare Jabal: he was the father of such as dwell in tents, and of such as have cattle.
These are your first “cowboys”. Probably the “kid rock” kind.
Something you need to also notice is that Cain is the first “city slicker”.
Gen 4:17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch: and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch.
It’s not a big secret that things are mostly more sinful in the city, especially big cities, than they are back in the country.
Through television, music, movies, social media, and things like that the city has made its way to the country boy.
Remember how Cain was told he would “Rule over sin”. This was probably “SIN CITY”.
It is true that when someone gets out into the big city, the flashing lights, billboards, traffic lights, sky scrapers, vehicles, police lights, ambulances, fire trucks, and all these other things can cause a person to focus on this present evil world. They just forget about God all together.
Those flashing lights kind of drown out those big stars up there that remind you of a creator.
I know Cain didn’t have all of that stuff but there is nothing new under the sun. I’d say after awhile that city spirit caught up with Cain so much that he forgot all about the LORD.
MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS
Something else about Cain’s line is that they seem to be the first one to use instruments.
Gen 4:21 And his brother’s name was Jubal: he was the father of all such as handle the harp and organ.
Nebuchadnezzar, another type of antichrist makes use of instruments.
Dan 3:5 That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:
It wouldn’t seem far fetched that music will be a huge part of the antichrists kingdom.
IRON USUALLY NEGATIVE.
Gen 4:22 And Zillah, she also bare Tubalcain, an instructer of every artificer in brass and iron: and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.
Iron is associated with the antichrist and is also usually negative in the Bible.
Dan 2:41 And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
Dan 2:42 And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
Dan 2:43 And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
In Deuteronomy 3:11 – The giant, king Og had a “bedstead of iron”.
In Deuteronomy 4:20 – Egypt is likened to an “iron furnace”.
Deu 27:5 And there shalt thou build an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.
Deu 28:47 Because thou servedst not the LORD thy God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things;
Deu 28:48 Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall send against thee, in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
In Joshua 17:16 the Canaanites(God’s peoples enemy) have “chariots of iron”.
When Solomon was building the LORD’s house it says in…
1Ki 6:7 And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.
Job 40:18 – Behemoth’s bones are like “bones of iron”.
It is associated with the “Shadow of death”.
Psa 107:10 Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron;
Cain Had His Crosshairs On The PROMISED SEED!
Gen 4:23 And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech: for I have slain a man to my wounding, and a young man to my hurt.
Gen 4:24 If Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy and sevenfold.
This is where the wicked rock band “Avenged Sevenfold” got their name.
Gen 4:25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.
Jesus was crucified, they thought they had won. Abel was slew, the devil said problem solved.
Jesus comes back again, just as SETH rose up in the place of Abel.
God always makes a way.
Gen 4:26 And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos: then began men to call upon the name of the LORD.
Within this study if you paid attention and took good notes than you have studied an entire chapter, around 60 verses, did a character study(Cain), learned about the three applications of scripture, and bible typology.
The goal was to make you feel as if you just had a FRESH meal out of the word of God.
