READ THE VERSES (1-9)
Explain What Each Aspect is using verses Matthew 13:18-23 and Luke 8:11-15
- Sower – The LORD Jesus
- The Seed – The word of God
- The Wayside – Those that hear the word but have it snatched from their heart.
- Fowls – The Devil/unclean spirits.
- Stony Places – Represents the heart who receives the word with joy. They don’t get deep rooted. So when the sun is up they are scorched. They don’t have enough water from the soil to survive the heat. (Tribulation, persecution)
- Thorns – Represent The cares of this world and deceitfulness of riches.
- The Good Ground – Represents a sincere, genuine, believing, and soft heart that receives the seed and gets deep rooted. Then it bears fruit.
I. You need the SOWER (The Lord Jesus Christ, The WORD made flesh, the living word)
A. Believe on the LORD Jesus Christ.
- He died on the cross for your sins, shed his blood, was buried, and resurrected.
- For whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved. (Romans 10:14)
B. He has those who help Him sow.
- When someone is speaking truth from the word of God they become one of the LORD’s sowers. You need a preacher/teacher.
II. You Need The SEED (The Written Word)
A. The Seed is The WORD OF GOD.
- You heard the WORD and BELIEVED. 1Pe 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
- You need a King James Bible.
- Preferably a wide margins bible to catch little bitty seeds. (Make references, footnotes, and keep it in MEMORY)
III. You Need To Stay Off The Wayside
A. Where The Devil Hangs Out
- Eph 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.
- Pro 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. (Any place, person, activity, that causes you to doubt the SEED so that it doesn’t take root.)
- Get on the good WAY!
Jhn 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Mat 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Mat 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
IV. The devil and his henchman are FOWLS!
A. Spirits are like birds.
- Rev 18:2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. (The real Angry Birds)
- Ecc 10:20 Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.
- The distractions, resistance, setbacks and all the things you face while putting out the word could be the FOWLS trying to steal the seed.
- Keep your ears open and your eyes on the SEED as it is being sown.
- The devils crowd are unclean birds. But the Holy Spirit descended “like a dove”. (Matthew 3:16)
- The Holy Spirit puts you in REMEMBRANCE of the word!
Jhn 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
V. You Need To Soften Your Stony Places
A. The Stoney Heart Can’t Bury The Seed Deep Enough.
- Job 23:16 For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me:
- People make your heart get hard. A hard heart thinks about self loathing. A hard heart is bitter and thinks about how bad people are to him.
- A soft heart has already moved on from any bad circumstance and is ready to hear and listen to the word of God.
- When my heart is hard I can’t keep my mind on the word of God.
- God uses my children to make your heart soft.
- The word of God will make your heart soft..
Psa 65:10 Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof. (Reading the word of God is like a good shower for your hard heart).
- The LORD Jesus has the tool to fix your hard heart.
Jer 23:29 Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
- He is the STONE that can break up the hard places this life puts on your heart.
Dan 2:34 Thou sawest till that a stone was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and brake them to pieces.
VI. Cut Down Your Thorns
A. The cares of this world and riches choke your interest and desire for the word.
- The cares of this world (our job, boyfriend, girlfriend, stuff, or anything else can be a tool of distraction.)
- There is coming a day when all that will matter is what you did with Jesus Christ and FOR Jesus Christ.
- your life is like an hour glass. God turned it over and now it is up to you how you pass the time. What are you going to do with each grain of sand?
- Will you let the word take root in you and grow? Or get choked by thorns?
- Jesus Christ TOOK YOUR THORNS so you wouldn’t have to. (John 19:2)(Genesis 3:18)
VII. You Need Some Good Ground To Grow And Produce Fruit
A. Get With The Right People and The Right Spirit. (Not With The Fowls)
Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psa 1:3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
B. Keep A Tender Heart. (Tender toward God, toward people, toward the word).
1 – Soft toward people.
Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.
2 – Soft toward God and his word. In agreement with him and with it.
Amo 3:3 Can two walk together, except they be agreed?
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
